CVPeople Tanzania Hiring Power & Maintenance Technician

At CVPeople Tanzania, we know that behind every successful operation is a reliable power system. Whether it’s generators keeping systems running during an outage or UPS units protecting critical equipment, these systems are what keep essential services functioning smoothly. Without them, day-to-day operations would come to a standstill.

That’s why we’re looking for a skilled and dependable Power & Maintenance Technician to join our team in Zanzibar. This role is all about ensuring that power never becomes a problem. If you’re someone who takes pride in solving technical challenges, enjoys hands-on work, and understands the importance of keeping systems up and running, this could be the perfect fit for you.

Why This Role Is So Important

Power may not always be visible, but it’s at the heart of everything we do. In mission-critical environments, such as immigration systems, even a brief outage can cause significant delays and disruptions. The Power & Maintenance Technician makes sure that doesn’t happen.

From preventive maintenance to emergency repairs, you’ll be the person we rely on to keep everything running smoothly. When things go right, most people won’t even notice—but you’ll know that your work is what made it possible. That’s the impact of this role.

What You’ll Be Doing Day to Day

Your work will be varied and hands-on. On some days, you’ll be inspecting generators or running tests on UPS systems, while on others, you might be troubleshooting electrical panels or collaborating with the IT team to resolve an urgent issue.

Here’s a snapshot of what you’ll take on:

  • Carrying out maintenance and repairs on generators, UPS systems, electrical panels, and HVAC equipment.

  • Diagnosing and fixing problems quickly to minimize downtime.

  • Creating and following preventive maintenance schedules so that equipment lasts longer and failures are less likely.

  • Follow strict safety protocols, especially when working with high-voltage systems.

  • Keeping detailed records of inspections, repairs, and equipment performance.

  • Collaborating with colleagues in IT and facilities to address power-related challenges.

  • Responding to emergencies when outages or breakdowns occur, ensuring services are restored as quickly as possible.

The Skills and Experience We’re Looking For

We’re seeking someone who’s not only technically skilled but also reliable under pressure. To do well in this role, you’ll need:

  • A Diploma or associate degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

  • 3–5 years of experience in power systems maintenance, ideally in industries where downtime isn’t an option—like IT, government, or aviation.

  • Practical experience with generators, UPS systems, HVAC units, wiring, circuit breakers, and control systems.

  • The ability to read and understand technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics.

  • A strong grasp of safety standards and the discipline to follow them every time.

  • Certifications such as CMRT, NFPA 70E Electrical Safety, HVAC Certification, or OSHA Safety Certification will set you apart.

  • Fluency in both English and Kiswahili is essential for effective communication in a diverse workplace.

  • Previous experience in the aviation industry is an added advantage.
